About Us
Mars’ mission is to reverse humanity’s industrial waste carbon footprint. We’re currently commercializing a process to produce impurity-advantaged drop-in acrylonitrile using inputs such as captured-CO₂ and bio-based sugars.
Acrylonitrile is a commodity scale chemical building block to carbon fiber, a versatile, high performance material used in hundreds of products today. Mars’ pathway enables total domestic production of acrylonitrile, and permanently stores carbon into derivative products like carbon fiber.
Founded in 2019, Mars is a public benefit corporation operated by passionate climate technologists with backgrounds in chemical engineering, operations and commercialization. We’re working to create a future where using our carbon negative technologies is a cheaper alternative to today’s fossil-based status quo.
Right now, the odds are against carbon-negative processes, but attitudes and incentives are shifting towards CO₂ utilization. Mars has the team and technology to drive demand and accelerate the transformation.
